Amazing benefits of drinking lemon water

Apart from making lemonade, you could also add your lemons to water and drink it. Well, it’s definitely not as sweet as the lemonade but it is great for the body.

Here are some ways through which you would benefit from drinking lemon water:

It freshens your breath

Let’s say you ate some kachumbari or a meal that had garlic and you don’t have your toothbrush with you. Drinking lemon water will freshen up your breath so you don’t have to get worried about bad breath. It works the same way as when you clean your hands with lemon after eating fish.

You will stay hydrated

Do you have a problem drinking eight glasses of water every day? Lemon water may be what will help you stay hydrated. Sometimes plain water is, well too tasteless to drink. Squeezing in some lemon juice in your water adds to the taste making it easier to drink.

It prevents kidney stones

This is one of the most painful conditions that affects the kidneys. The citric acid in lemons is said to help in prevention of kidney stones. Also, water helps in flushing out the stones.

It aids in digestion

To get your gut in order, start your day by drinking a cup of warm lemon water. It gets your digestive system moving and prevents digestion issues such as constipation and bloating.

Antioxidants

Like other citrus fruits, lemons are loaded wit vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that protects the cells of your body from damage by free radicals. Vitamin C has also been found to help in reducing the duration of common colds.

They may help in weight loss

Lemons are said to contain some amounts of pectin, a type of fiber that suppresses appetite hence leading to weight loss. However, there are conflicting studies on whether lemon water does a better job in promoting weight loss than plain water.
