Washing your face is more than lathering it, rinsing, patting dry and moisturizing. The skin on your face is more sensitive and you must watch how you go about every step of cleaning your face. Otherwise, you will be damaging your face all in the name of washing it.
Some of the things we do seem harmless yet they are poison to the skin on your face. If you have been making these mistakes, it’s high time you stopped:
Using a random soap
If yours is the kind of skin that never reacts to anything, lucky you. But if you have sensitive skin, you will want to be choosy with the soap you use to clean your face. That is if you do not have a face cleanser. Different soaps have different pH which may alter that of your skin causing irritation and breakouts.
Using the wrong cleanser
Again, a cleanser that is good for your friend may not be good for you. Know your skin type and learn what cleanser would suit you best.
Over washing your face
Too much of anything is poisonous and so is washing your face. You rip off the natural oils leaving your face dry and flaky.
Too hot water
Sure thing, it may feel good but it does more harm than good to the skin on your face. This too dries your skin.
Exfoliating too much
Exfoliating helps in getting rid of the dead cells hence improving your tone and texture. But you should not exfoliate more than three times a week to avoid skin irritation.
You use the body towel to pat your face dry
This seems harmless since you may argue that your body is clean. However, different bacteria thrive in different parts of the body. Think of how gross it is transferring bacteria from your feet to your face for instance.
