These Habits Are Making You Look Older Than You Are

The rate at which you age and how you look as you age highly depends on your lifestyle.  The small things you do may seem harmless but they can make you look older than you are. Or don’t we all know of someone who looks 40 yet they are only in their early 30s? That’s exactly what we are talking about.

If you want to look younger, better stop doing these things:

Sleep deprivation

The skin cells need time to regenerate and this best happens when you are asleep. So, each time you sleep for less than seven hours, your skin does not have enough time to regenerate. This cannot only cause breakouts but it also leaves you looking older.


You already know how dangerous smoking is to your lungs. But what you probably do not know is that smoking also damages your skin.  Smoking constricts the blood vessels thus hindering the efficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to your skin. The result?  Wrinkling.


Studies show that alcohol lowers the antioxidant levels in your body. Antioxidants are responsible for countering the free radicals that usually damage the skin and cause chronic diseases. Besides that, alcohol is a diuretic and over drinking leaves your skin dehydrated and wrinkled.

You don’t drink enough water

Do you always drink eight glasses of water a day? If not, you need to start doing so lest you age faster. Water clears the skin and also gives the supple look making you look younger.


There is a reason as to why more people are trying to quit sugar. Sugar does so much damage to your skin and the whole body. You may not necessarily quit sugar to look younger but cutting your intake will be great for your skin.


Everyone gets stressed. Even so, too much stress has been linked with faster aging. Brew yourself a cup of coffee, go out or do whatever that makes you relax but don’t let stress take over your life. It’s never that serious after all.
